When a Stray Cat Turns into a Hero

As I sat stranded on the side of the road, watching my car sputter and die, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of panic. I was on my way to visit my parents, and my boyfriend was still at work, oblivious to my misfortune. That’s when I saw him - a gruff, old mechanic with a scruffy beard and a worn leather jacket. He pulled up in his rusty truck, and I thought to myself, ‘Great, just what I need, some creepy old man to fix my car.’ But little did I know, he was about to turn my day around in the most unexpected way.

He fixed my car with a speed and efficiency that I was impressed by, but it was what he said next that really caught me off guard. He told me that he was glad I wasn’t one of those ‘city girls’ who wouldn’t even consider letting a guy like him give her a ride, even if it was just to the nearest gas station. I laughed and told him that I wasn’t like that, that I’d take a ride from anyone if it meant getting to where I needed to go. He just smiled and said, ‘I knew you were a girl after my own heart.’

As I drove away in my newly fixed car, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of gratitude towards this stranger. And I know my boyfriend would be happy to know that I was safe, even if it was with the help of a bit of a rogue. After all, in an open relationship, communication and consent are key. And who knows, maybe one day I’ll tell my boyfriend all about the old mechanic who saved me on the side of the road.
