I’ve seen my fair share of crazy people on the job, but there’s one individual who still makes my blood boil. She was a self-proclaimed ‘anarchist’ who believed the police were the root of all evil. Her rants on social media were so inflammatory, they’d make even the most seasoned officer want to punch a hole through the screen. I was called to her house for a disturbance, and let me tell you, it was a wild ride.
When I arrived, she was screaming at the top of her lungs, spewing vitriol at me like I was some kind of personal affront to humanity. I tried to de-escalate the situation, but she just wouldn’t let up. She had a talent for making me question my own morality, making me wonder if I was the one who was really the sociopath. It was a game, and I was her willing participant. She’d push my buttons, and I’d try to stay calm, but deep down, I was seething. I couldn’t wait to get her off my chest, but little did I know, it was only the beginning of our twisted game.
It turned out, she had a hidden agenda. She’d been planning this encounter for months, carefully crafting her online persona to lure me in. She wanted to test my limits, to see how far I’d go before I cracked. And I’ll be damned if I didn’t give her a show. We played a sick game of cat and mouse, each of us pushing the other to see who’d break first. It was a dark, twisted dance, and I’m not proud of the way I behaved. But, I’m not ashamed either. In that moment, I was a product of the system, a cog in the machine. And that’s the unspoken truth I’d rather keep hidden.
