The Scholarships Walk Away

Leah seems more perturbed than before. We continue to hike in silence. We hear some talking coming from up the trail. Around the turn comes two college age men talking to each other until they see Leah "they aren't like the last man - but there are two of them. Watch" Leah says Leah stands in the trial and again says "Stop" and the two come to a halt. Leah hands invitation cards to each of the men. They look at her and the cards with slack jaws "What are you two doing here?" I ask The first says, "we go to a college near here - we are both on the baseball team and it is off season" The other says "we are part of the Athletic department on scholarships" The two keep looking at the cards - one starts to approach Leah greedily when the other stops him and whispers in his ear "Ehh, we need to get back it seems, maybe another time" he says as they leave
