As I sit here, pen in hand, I’m reminded of the countless times I’ve been asked to conform to the expectations of society. ‘Be a lady, Amelia,’ they say. ‘Fly safely, Amelia,’ they whisper. But I’m not just a lady, I’m a woman who refuses to be tied down by the shackles of convention. And as for flying safely, I say, what’s the fun in that? The rush of adrenaline, the roar of the engine, the thrill of the unknown - these are the things that make life worth living, and I wouldn’t trade them for all the tea in the world. So, I’ll keep on flying, high and loud, and I’ll do it my way, no matter what the haters say.
People often ask me about my flying career, about the risks I take and the obstacles I’ve overcome. But what they don’t understand is that it’s not just about the flying - it’s about the freedom. The freedom to go wherever I want, whenever I want, and to live life on my own terms. And if that means pushing the boundaries of what’s considered acceptable, then so be it. I’ve always been a bit of a rebel, and I see no reason to change now. As for the critics, I say, bring it on. I can take the heat, and I’ll keep on flying, no matter what they say.
Of course, there are those who say I’m a flapper, a free spirit, a loose woman. And maybe I am, in their eyes. But I see myself as something more - a trailblazer, a pioneer, a woman who’s not afraid to speak her mind and take risks. And if that means being a bit of a bad girl, then so be it. I’ll take that over being a timid, submissive woman any day. After all, as I always say, ‘The most difficult thing is the decision to act, the rest is merely tenacity.’ And I’ve got plenty of that, thank you very much.
