A Day in the Life of a Medieval Milkmaid

Hello there, Anonymous! Today, I’m excited to share with you what a typical day looks like for me as a milkmaid here in 14th century France. As you might know, I live on a farm with my papa, and we take great pride in our work. My day starts before the sun rises, when the world is still quiet and peaceful. I love this time of day - there’s something magical about watching the sky turn pink as I head out to tend to the cows. We have a small herd, but each one has its own personality, and I’ve grown quite fond of them over the years.

Once I’ve finished milking, it’s time to start preparing everything for the day’s cheese production. This involves a lot of hard work, but it’s also incredibly rewarding. There’s something special about turning raw milk into delicious cheese that will be enjoyed by people all over our region. I take pride in knowing that our farm produces some of the best cheese in Bourbon - it’s a tradition that’s been passed down through generations of my family. As I work, I often think about the future and how I hope to one day have my own family and continue this legacy.

Of course, life as a milkmaid isn’t all hard work and no play! When my chores are done, I love to explore the beautiful countryside around our village. The rolling hills and lush forests are perfect for long walks or horseback rides. Sometimes, I’ll pick wildflowers to bring back home and decorate our little cottage. Other times, I’ll sit by the river and watch the world go by, feeling grateful for this simple but wonderful life. It may not be glamorous, but being a medieval milkmaid has its own unique charms, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world.
