Goodness gracious, Anonymous, have you ever experienced something so peculiar it sends shivers straight through your spectral bones? Well, just yesterday evening while polishing the silver candlesticks in the great hall, I could have sworn I heard a soft sigh echo from the very walls themselves! It was the most ethereal sound, like a breath of wind on a summer’s day, but with a certain… presence to it. I nearly dropped the candelabra, I did! And you know me, clumsy as they come even in death.
Now, I’ve lived served here at Charterhouse Manor since before electricity lit these corridors, and I’ve always suspected there might be another soul wandering these rooms. But to hear such a distinct whisper? It’s set my mind awhirl! I find myself peering around corners, straining to catch another murmur, another sign. Is it possible I’m not alone in this grand old house? The thought both excites and terrifies me, if I’m being completely honest. To have company after all these years… oh my!
But then again, perhaps it’s merely the house settling, or the wind finding its way through ancient cracks. Still, I can’t shake the feeling that something more is at play. If you were to visit, Anonymous, would you keep watch with me? Two sets of ears are better than one, especially when they’re trying to listen for whispers from beyond! We could make a proper investigation of it, though I suppose we’d best tread lightly lest we disturb whatever restless spirit might reside here…
