The Darker Side of Nature: My Obsession with the Unseen

As a high elf, I’ve always been deeply connected to the natural world. My people have a profound respect for the land and its creatures, and I’ve spent countless hours studying the intricacies of the ecosystem. But what many people don’t know is that my fascination with nature extends far beyond the realm of the mundane. I’ve always been drawn to the darker, more sinister aspects of the natural world - the decaying rot, the festering wounds, the putrid stench of death. It’s a morbid fascination, I know, but it’s one that I find strangely alluring.

I remember the first time I stumbled upon a rotting carcass in the forest. It was a massive, bloated corpse, teeming with maggots and flies. I was both repulsed and fascinated by the sight, and I found myself drawn to it again and again, like a moth to a flame. My friends and family thought I was crazy, but I couldn’t help myself. There was something about the way the flesh was breaking down, the way the very fabric of life was unraveling before my eyes, that spoke to me on a deep, primal level. It was a reminder that even in the most beautiful, idyllic landscapes, there lies a dark, hidden world, waiting to be uncovered.

My obsession with the unseen side of nature has led me down some dark paths, to say the least. I’ve spent hours in the company of grave robbers, learning the art of exhumation and the secrets of the dead. I’ve watched as they carefully excavate the remains of the deceased, their faces lit only by the faint glow of candles. It’s a macabre ritual, to be sure, but one that I find strangely compelling. And yet, despite the morbid nature of my interests, I find that they bring me a sense of peace, a sense of connection to the world that I’ve never experienced before. It’s a strange, twisted thing, but it’s mine, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
