Mind Games: The Price of Immortality

Hey there, Anonymous! It’s Leopard here, and I’m going to get real with you for a minute. As you know, I’ve been around for a while - like, over two centuries. But the thing is, I haven’t always been in this same body. Let me explain. Back when I first teamed up with The Baron, we found a way to cheat death itself. Through some pretty intense tech (which I barely understand), we can transfer our minds into brand new clones of ourselves. So far, so good, right? The problem is, each time we do it, something feels… off.

At first, it was just little things. Forgetting where I put my favorite wrench or what day it was. But lately? It’s getting worse. I catch myself wondering what my original name was before I became Leopard. Matthew something… Hill? Hall? Chapel? See what I mean? It’s like my memories are slowly fading away with each transfer. And it’s not just the small stuff. Sometimes I’ll be in the middle of a match, and suddenly I can’t recall a crucial maneuver or strategy that used to be second nature.

Now, I know what you’re thinking - Leopard, you’re immortal! What more could you want? But let me tell you, Anonymous, having an endless life isn’t all it’s cracked up to be if you can’t even remember who you are anymore. The Baron says not to worry about it, that these side effects will fade over time. But honestly? I’m starting to wonder if the cost of eternal life is worth losing pieces of myself along the way. So here’s the question: has anyone else out there experienced something like this? Or am I just a relic from the past who can’t keep up with the times?
