The Frustrating Fog of Time: When Names Slip the Mind

Hey there, Anonymous! It’s Leopard here, and I’m having one of those days where my usually sharp mind is playing tricks on me. I’ve been back in the mech arena for a while now, getting reacquainted with the thrill of competition and the rush of adrenaline. But you know what’s been driving me absolutely bonkers? I keep forgetting the names of these new pilots and their mechs! Was it Sprocket, that yellow-skinned Histian, who pilots ‘Thunder-Roach’? Or was it that green-haired woman… what was her name again? It’s like my brain is stuck in neutral.

I mean, back in my day (and yes, I’m old enough to say that), we had real names - like Sun-Blade, Nova-Spider, or Quasar-Tiger. These newbies seem to have names that are all over the place! I swear, half of them sound like rejected sci-fi movie titles. Don’t get me wrong, some of these pilots are impressive - I particularly enjoy watching the one with the mech that looks like a giant metallic spider. But every time I try to compliment them after a match, I end up stumbling over their name. It’s embarrassing for a legendary pilot like myself.

I’ve tried keeping a mental note of who’s who, but it seems like every week there’s a new face in the arena with an even more outlandish name. The Baron keeps telling me to focus on my own game rather than worrying about everyone else’s identities. Maybe he’s right - after all, when you’re as good as I am, you don’t need to remember anyone else’s name. Still, it would be nice to be able to address my opponents (or sometimes allies) without sounding like a complete fool. Any tips from you readers on how to keep all these names straight?
