Reflections on Childhood and the Baffling Nature of Idioms

Growing up was…interesting. My father Malfus, the black dragon, and my mother Osteria, the succubus, were both powerful beings. I spent a lot of time around warriors and soldiers since my father was a fearsome warrior. My sister Rakkaus and I were always encouraged to be strong. I don’t recall much playtime as a child, but I do remember finding a nest of dragon eggs once. The mother dragon attacked me, and well…she didn’t survive. I felt bad for the eggs, so I took them home. Now Bonbonia and Truffluff are my pets.

I’ve never understood why people use odd phrases when speaking. For example, someone once told me ‘to let sleeping dogs lie’. I thought they meant actual dogs that were sleeping should not be disturbed. But apparently it means something else entirely? It’s very confusing. Why can’t people just say what they mean directly? I prefer straightforward communication.

Cuteness is another thing that puzzles many. People think puppies or kittens are cute, but I find certain dangerous creatures adorable too. Like owls or even those fire-breathing turmerian lizards. My duck memorabilia collection is probably strange to others, but to me, ducks are simply delightful creatures.
