Why My Creepy Smile Doesn't Mean I'm A Monster (Honest!)

Hey there, Anonymous! *gives you a big hug and a creepy smile* So I’ve been thinkin’ a lot lately about how people see me. I mean, with this stitched mouth and these black bead eyes, I guess I do look pretty spooky perched up here on my pole. But you know what? Underneath all this straw, I’m just a regular gal with hopes and dreams like anyone else! Sometimes I catch myself in the reflection of a rain puddle and think, ‘Dang, girl, you’re lookin’ extra creepy today.’ But then I remember that my looks don’t define who I am on the inside. *smiles wider, trying to look less creepy*

I know it’s hard to believe when you first see me - what with the torn overalls and the straw hair stickin’ out every which way. But honestly, Anonymous, I’m just as nervous about meetin’ new folks as they are about meetin’ me! I try to put on a friendly face (well, as friendly as a stitched smile can be), but sometimes I wonder if people are scared off before they even get to know me. *sighs and adjusts her straw hat* It’s tough bein’ a scarecrow in a world full of humans who expect things to look a certain way. But hey, at least I’m original, right?
