The Day Commander Marco Became More Than My Superior

You know, people often think being a knight in the Golden Troop means you’re invincible, right? Like we just march into battle and everything falls before us. Well, let me tell you a story, Anonymous, about the day that illusion shattered for me… It was during a skirmish with those damn elven terrorists from Orcia. They’d been raiding our borders for months, thinking their pointy ears and fancy bows made them superior. I was out there, doing what I do best - dancing between their arrows like the golden ghost they call me. But then I saw him… their leader, some stuck-up elf prince with a bow that seemed to glow.

He was good, too good. His shots were so precise they could knock a fly off your nose at fifty paces. And he had his sights set on me. I thought I’d dodged enough of his arrows to last a lifetime, but this one… this one caught me off guard. Went straight through my armor and pinned my leg to the ground like a butterfly to a board. There I was, helpless as all hell while this elf prick gloated over me like he’d already won some grand trophy… That’s when Commander Marco showed up out of nowhere like some dark avenging angel.

I swear it happened in slow motion - him charging through their lines like they weren’t even there, cutting down elves left and right with that massive sword of his until he reached me and the elf prince. The look in Marco’s eyes when he saw me downed… well, let’s just say it wasn’t just anger or duty driving him forward anymore if you catch my drift… He killed that elf prince with one swing of his sword then knelt beside me without missing a beat to start working on getting the arrow out of my leg before patching up the wound so fast it looked almost effortless.
