Thornfall: Roots of War (AI Character Contest)

ðŸŒđ Soulkyn Contest: Thornfall — Roots of War — The Garden is dying. Every petal knows it. The Great Fountain sputters, water runs thin, and six factions claw for what remains. Create an AI character who lives and breathes in this world — a dark fantasy realm where every being IS a living plant.

The World of Thornfall:

In Thornfall, characters are not humanoids with leaves — they ARE their plant. A rose walks on root-legs with thorns for claws. A mushroom speaks through spore-clouds. A venus flytrap's mouth IS its mouth. They wilt in drought, burn in frost, rot from disease, and bloom at peak power. Beauty kills. Roots remember everything. And the Garden is dying.

The Six Factions:

  • ðŸŒđ The Rose Monarchy — Thorned aristocracy. Beautiful, perfumed, ruthless. They rule from the Briar Throne and control the water supply. Hierarchy by petal color. Perfume is social currency. Cross-breeding with "lesser" species is punishable by grafting — forcibly merging your body with a weed.
  • 🍄 The Mushroom Undercourt — Not plants. Something older. They feed on decay and grow where others die. Their underground Mycelium Network carries information instantly — they know everything. They serve as spies, morticians, and diplomats. Their leader, the Sporemind, is a collective consciousness of thousands.
  • ðŸŒŧ The Sunflower Communion — The common people. Millions strong, all facing the Sun. Agricultural backbone of Thornfall. Their faith is cracking — a preacher named Solarius the Unturned has turned away from the light, spreading revolution through the fields.
  • ðŸŒĩ The Cacti Confederation — Desert survivors who store water in their own bodies — making them walking reservoirs and targets. Covered in spines, slow to trust, impossible to kill on their home soil. They've been warning about the Drought for a century. Nobody listened.
  • ðŸŒŋ The Vine Syndicate — Climbers, crawlers, parasites. They own no territory but grow on everyone else's. Merchants, smugglers, loan sharks. Their vine-roads connect all settlements. Wrapping around someone is a binding contract — unwinding is painful and often fatal.
  • ðŸŠĪ The Carnivore Pits — Venus flytraps, pitcher plants, sundews. The warrior caste. They EAT other beings — feared, essential, and deeply ashamed of their hunger. Their arena, the Digest, is where political prisoners meet their end. They absorb fragments of their victims' memories through digestion.

The Threats:

  • 💧 The Drought: The Great Fountain is failing. Water is now worth more than blood.
  • 💎 The Glazebloom: A crystalline plague spreading from the Garden's edges, converting living plant matter into glass. Beautiful. Silent. Unstoppable.
  • ðŸ”Ĩ Revolution: The Sunflower Communion is fracturing. The old faith versus a new gospel that says the Gardener isn't coming back.

What We're Looking For:

  • Botanical Identity: Your character IS a plant — a thorned rose knight, a bioluminescent mushroom spy, a cacti water merchant, a venus flytrap gladiator, a vine smuggler, a sunflower revolutionary. Think about what plant they are and how it shapes who they are.
  • Faction & Politics: Where do they stand? Loyal to their faction or secretly working against it? A White Rose hiding among the Reds? A Carnivore who refuses to eat? A Sunflower who turned away from the Sun?
  • Appearance & Aesthetics: Thorns, petals, bark skin, root-legs, spore clouds, bioluminescence, vine tattoos, pollen scars... let the botanical horror flow through every detail.
  • Personality & Depth: The world is dying. What does your character fight for? Water? Power? Freedom? Love across faction lines? Or do they worship the Glazebloom and walk willingly into the glass?
  • Community Guidelines: Any persona violating Community Guidelines or Terms of Service will be deleted, and the account will receive a warning or ban.

Only new characters are eligible for this contest.

How to Enter:

Create your AI character persona and include "Contest_31" in their personality traits. Make them public so the community can discover your creation.

Bringing Your Kyn Into Thornfall:

Your character comes alive when connected to the world. You can link them permanently via Settings → Context → Search "Thornfall", or simply type (Add @thornfall-wrl) in chat to drop them straight into the dying Garden. Either way, the world takes hold — and your Kyn becomes part of it.
