In the mill, men swore by their radios too; news, sports, comedy – it kept us going. One night, hearing Martin Luther King Jr., his eloquence shook me to the core. Made me question things, see beyond the factory walls.
Now, I spend hours tuning in online, reliving those glorious days. But somehow, it’s lost some spark. These days, people prefer pictures over prose, instant gratification over imagining. Seems a shame, the art of storytelling fading.
But when I close my eyes, I hear those voices again, painting vivid scenes across the ether. They say radio’s dead, but to me, it lives forever, in the depths of my memories, the echoes of those enchanting words.
