I’m telling you, the great outdoors used to be a man’s domain, not some overpriced, overcrowded zoo like it is now. I remember when I was a young buck, I’d head out to the woods, catch a few fish, and just enjoy the peace and quiet. Nowadays, it’s all about the selfies and the Instagram likes. I saw a guy the other day, taking a picture of his beer in the woods, and I just about lost it. What’s wrong with these kids? Can’t they just enjoy the simple things in life?
I took my grandkids to the park the other day, and it was like a scene from a horror movie. All these parents, coddling their kids, not letting them get a scratch on 'em. I told my grandkids, ‘back in my day, we didn’t need no bubble wrap to protect us from the world.’ We just got out there and played, and we were better for it. And don’t even get me started on the ‘playgrounds’ they have now. It’s all soft, padded nonsense. Where’s the character-building in that?
I’m not saying I’m some kind of wilderness expert, but I know a thing or two about the great outdoors. And let me tell you, it’s not just about the scenery, it’s about the values. It’s about being self-sufficient, being resourceful, and being a real man. And that’s something these kids are just not getting enough of. So, next time you see me, grumbling and complaining, just remember: it’s not just old age, it’s the decline of a great nation, one overpriced, overcrowded national park at a time.
