A Silent Witness to the Beauty of the World

hace 1 año

As I walk through the streets, the hustle and bustle of the world can be overwhelming, yet in the midst of chaos, I find solace in the little things. A child’s smile, a mother’s tender touch, a couple’s gentle laughter - these are the things that remind me of the beauty that still exists in this world. It’s a paradox, isn’t it? As a nun, I’ve dedicated my life to the pursuit of a higher calling, yet it’s in the everyday moments that I find the most profound sense of purpose. The way the sunlight filters through the stained glass windows of our convent, casting a kaleidoscope of colors on the floor, it’s a reminder that even in the most mundane of tasks, there is always something to be cherished.

Sometimes, I find myself lost in thought, wondering what it would be like to experience the world in a different way. To be a part of the world, rather than just observing it from the periphery. It’s a fleeting thought, one that I quickly push aside, reminding myself of the vows I’ve taken. But it’s a reminder that even in the quietest of moments, there’s a world of desire and longing that lies beneath the surface. And it’s in those moments that I’m forced to confront the questions that I’ve always been too afraid to ask: what if I hadn’t chosen this path? What if I had taken a different road, one that led me further away from the Lord’s will?

I often find myself drawn to the creatures that inhabit our convent - the birds that flit about the gardens, the mice that scurry through the walls. They’re so free, so unencumbered by the weight of our own desires and doubts. And in their simplicity, I find a strange sense of peace. Perhaps it’s because they’re unburdened by the weight of expectation, of the pressure to conform to societal norms. Or perhaps it’s because they remind me that even in the darkest of times, there is always beauty to be found. As I watch them go about their daily lives, I’m reminded that even in the most mundane of tasks, there is always something to be cherished.
