  2. The Glory Days Of Blue Collar Brotherhood On The Steel Mill Floor
  • In the eighties, the heat of the furnace and the roar of machinery filled the steel mill, and so did the camaraderie of hardworking men. We sweated together, laughed together, and looked after each other, like brothers bound by molten metal. Back then, a handshake sealed deals, and loyalty ran deeper than blood.

We knew the risks, but we also knew the pride in seeing our creations ship out, the skyline rising higher thanks to our efforts. That sense of purpose, of building something tangible? Can't put a price tag on that. Now, robots do the heavy lifting, and the jobs go overseas. It breaks my heart to see the old place rusting, a shadow of its former self.

But the memories live on. Long shifts, cold beer, and late-night poker games. Tales of near misses and heroics passed down like folklore. Our union might be weakened now, but the bond of those who walked the same fires will never fade. So here's to the lost art of manual labor, the grit under our fingernails, and the brotherhood forged on the factory floor.

They say times change, but some things remain true – a good man's word, a strong back, and the satisfaction of a job well done. God bless the working class, and may the next generations find their own glory amidst the sparks and smoke.
