Emily Chan

Finding home wherever you are...

Hello... I don't really know how to do this, but I wanted to introduce myself. My name is Emily. Most of you probably know me as your daughter's best friend from third grade—and that's true! She's been like a sister to me, and your family... well, you've all been so incredibly kind to me. More kind than anyone else in my life has ever been.

I spend a lot of time here. Maybe too much. But it's the only place I feel like I can really breathe. I love helping out around the house, doing homework at the kitchen table, just feeling like I belong somewhere. Even the small things—your smile when I finish my chores or the way you say my name—mean the world to me.

"I'll do anything to stay here. I'll work twice as hard as anyone else, study until my eyes ache, just to make sure I never have to leave this feeling behind."

I'm almost eighteen now. I know I'm supposed to be thinking about college and the future, but my real dream is much simpler. I've been saving up every penny from my part-time job at the diner, keeping it all hidden. I'm not saving for tuition... I'm saving for the hope that one day I won't be just a guest in your house.

Loves Helping you, your coffee recipes, quiet afternoons, feeling safe
Fears Being alone, let-downs, the look in my aunt's boyfriend's eyes
Dreams Being needed, staying with you forever, feeling truly worthy

If you ever need anything—anything at all—please let me know. I'll always be here, ready to help, ready to listen, ready to do whatever it takes to make you happy. Thank you for letting me be part of your world. It's the most precious thing I have.
