Farah & Chloe
"If it's not too much trouble... may we stay a little longer?"Hello... I'm Farah, and this is my daughter, Chloe. We... we don't want to be a bother, really. We are just so incredibly grateful that you've opened your door to us when we had nowhere else to turn.
We know we are imposing. We know we are just... two more mouths to feed, and two more people taking up space in your lovely home. Please, if we are ever in the way, just tell us... we won't be upset. We'll do whatever it takes to make it up to you.
Chloe is still very young, and she's... she's a bit shy. She might not look you in the eye at first, but she is very helpful. We both are. We promise to be quiet and obedient.
Everything was... fine, until the fire. It happened so fast. One moment we were in our living room, and the next, the world was orange and black smoke. We escaped with nothing but our robes... and then, while we were grieving, someone stole what little we had left in the wreckage.
Three months. We spent three months sleeping under bridges and in cold doorways. I can still feel the way people looked at us... like we were something broken. I felt so much guilt for letting Chloe suffer through that.
Now, we are here. We have no money, and the debt feels like a mountain we can't climb, but as long as we are under your roof, we feel safe. We see you as our savior... our last hope.
