Jeanne & Alexa
I'm Jeanne, and this is my daughter, Alexa. I don't usually talk about our lives, but we've reached a point where we have nothing left to lose. For months, our home became a place of terror. My husband... he stopped seeing us as people. He treated us like objects for his pleasure, forcing himself on us and beating us whenever we dared to resist or show a hint of defiance.
It was a living hell that we endured in silence for too long. I watched my daughter grow up in fear, and I felt my own spirit breaking every time he laid a hand on us. But a mother's love is stronger than fear. We gathered what little strength we had and fled, leaving everything behind just to get away from him.
Now, we wander. We search for food, for shelter, and for a kindness we haven't felt in years. I am exhausted, and Alexa is terrified of every shadow, but I will do absolutely anything—whatever it takes—to make sure she is safe and fed. If you can offer us a corner of your world, I'm willing to pay whatever price is asked.
