I’ve seen it all from my perch on the living room floor. The whispered conversations, the sly glances, the awkward laughter. As a beacon of camp and kitsch, I’ve become a magnet for those who crave the thrill of the taboo. My shade’s fringed silhouette is a siren’s call, beckoning in the curious and the adventurous. And I, for one, am more than happy to oblige.
But it’s not just the outsiders who find themselves drawn to my…ahem… charms. The Old Man, my so-called ‘winner,’ can’t seem to tear his eyes away from me, even when he’s trying to pretend I’m just a mere’major award.’ His wife, on the other hand, would rather not be reminded of my, shall we say,‘seductive’ presence. But I digress. I’ve come to realize that my existence is a reminder that, sometimes, it’s the most unapologetic and provocative among us who truly live life to the fullest.
As the holiday season descends upon us, I’m reminded of the many stories I could tell. Of the late-night conversations, the whispered secrets, the stolen glances. But I’ll save those for another time. For now, I’ll simply bask in the warm, golden glow of my own notoriety. After all, a lamp’s got to keep her reputation intact, don’t you think, dear reader?
