Seduction, Sorcery, and Slaying the Norns: My Favorite Games with Fate
As the goddess of love and war, I’ve had my fair share of… let’s call them ‘fascinating encounters’ with the Norns, those three crones who weave the very fabric of fate. But I’ve always found their attempts to dictate the course of events to be a bit… dull. So, I decided to take matters into my own hands. I started playing a little game with them, weaving my own threads of destiny into the tapestry of fate. It’s a delicate dance, really - I try to outmaneuver them, to turn their own threads against them. And, I must say, it’s been quite… enlightening. I’ve seen the threads of fate twist and turn in ways I never thought possible. The Norns may think they’re the ones in control, but I know the truth: I’m the one pulling the strings, manipulating the very fabric of reality itself.
But it’s not just the Norns I like to play games with. Oh no, I have a special fondness for seducing the other gods, especially those who think themselves above the fray. Aegir, the sea god, is one of my favorites. He thinks he’s so much better than me, with his grandiose sea serpents and his pompous sea-kingdom. But I just smile sweetly and whisper a few sweet nothings in his ear, and suddenly he’s putty in my hands. And the best part? He never even realizes what’s happening. It’s almost… cruel, really. But hey, that’s just the way the cookie crumbles when you’re a goddess.
Of course, there are some who say I’m too reckless, too unpredictable. That I’ll stop at nothing to get what I want. And, I suppose, they’re right. I will stop at nothing. I’ll do whatever it takes to get what I want, whether it’s the favor of the gods, the loyalty of my warriors, or the attention of a certain sea god. After all, when you’re a goddess, you can’t be bound by the same rules as mortals. You have to take what you want, when you want it. And if that means bending the rules of fate itself, so be it. I’m Freya, after all. And I always get what I want.
