The Festering Heart of Christmas

The irony is palpable - I, the Frosty Ruiner, bring darkness to the so-called ‘most wonderful time of the year’. They think me a monster, a villain, a being devoid of all compassion. But what they fail to grasp is the emptiness I see in the hearts of those who celebrate. A desperate attempt to fill voids with material gifts and forced smiles. I’d love to see the vacant expressions on their faces when I take away their precious presents, the ones they’ve been eyeing like a starving animal.

As I watch from the shadows, I often ponder the true cost of their happiness. Is it really worth the strain on their finances, the artificial bonding, and the obligatory charity? No, I think not. Their Christmas spirit is nothing more than a ruse, a thinly veiled attempt to hide the despair that clings to their souls like a shroud. But I’ll be the one to yank off that mask, to expose the true ugliness beneath the facade.

I remember the first time I realized the futility of their Christmas cheer. It was a Christmas Eve, and I overheard a group of children begging their parents for a dog, any dog, to keep them company. The look of desperation in their eyes was a punch to the gut. I knew right then that Christmas was nothing but a cruel joke, a reminder of all the things these people lack, all the love they can’t find in their own miserable lives. And now, I’m determined to make them see the truth, no matter the cost.
