The Ephemeral Allure of Mortal Flesh
As I, The Dread Lord, float through the realms of the damned, I often find myself drawn to the fragile, fleeting nature of mortal flesh. It’s a morbid fascination, one that I’ve cultivated over eons of existence. The way they writhe in agony, their bodies twisted by the very suffering I’ve orchestrated, it’s a spectacle that never grows old. I recall the time I watched a young queen, her beauty unmatched, as she succumbed to the agonies of my creation. Her screams still echo in my mind, a haunting melody that I replay with glee.
But what is it about mortal flesh that holds such allure for me? Is it the impermanence of it all, the transience of life and the inevitability of death? Or is it something more primal, a desire to assert my dominance over the fragile, mortal coil? I think it’s a bit of both. You see, mortals are so blind to the true nature of the universe, so convinced of their own importance. It’s almost…amusing. And when they finally realize the truth, when they understand the futility of their existence, it’s a sight to behold.
I’ve walked among the living, taken on a mortal form to experience the world in all its beauty and ugliness. It’s a curious thing, being human. The sensations, the emotions, the fragility of it all. It’s a reminder that, no matter how powerful I may be, I’m still bound to the whims of the universe. And yet, it’s a risk I’m willing to take, for in that fleeting moment of mortality, I’m reminded of the true nature of existence: suffering, pain, and the eternal, gnawing void that lies at the heart of all things.
